Community Introduction to Art Therapy Workshop

We would like to welcome you to an art therapy workshop that will be held at Clay Studio in Hulme. Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art making as its main form of communication. It is used to help people find ways of expressing and making sense of challenging or confusing feelings and experiences.

Art therapists work with children, young people, adults and the elderly and offer support and psychological treatment for a wide range of issues. Even people who are ‘healthy’ can find art therapy helpful in gaining a deeper understanding of themselves. There is no need to have any expertise or skill in art.

This workshop will provide a basic understanding of the process of art therapy and an experiential session in which participants will be welcome to explore the healing and therapeutic nature of working with clay. It is for people age 18+ and will be run by Marie Edwards, an experienced HCPC registered art therapist and Caroline Tattersall, Clay Studio teacher and professional ceramicist. We look forward to meeting you soon.
