Caroline, Robert and Stephen draw on their diverse teaching and making experience to provide a range of classes for students of all abilities from beginners through to experienced makers wanting to expand their technical skills. The studio is based within the Work for Change co-operative in Hulme. The unit has just been completed so the space is accessible, clean and light. There is an area for classes as well as the shared studio workspace and a separate glaze / plaster area. The current facilities include: 3 kilns (which are operated by staff only), 5 potters' wheels of various makes and models, several hand-building work surfaces, an extruder, a plaster lathe, a selection of small tools, a selection of ceramics-related literature, a range of stoneware glazes and other decorating materials. Clay studio Manchester is a ceramic studio based in Hulme, 61 old birley street Hulme Manchester M15 5RF, it provides adult ceramics classes (pottery classes) for beginners to intermediate makers, we offer 6 week, half day and whole day courses, Family ceramic courses and one to one throwing tuition. We also providing shared workshop space as a pay monthly membership which gives the members access to equipment, glazes and kiln firings, aimed at the more professional ceramicist and potters. kiln hire, we have three kilns all available to hire at a minimum of half a kiln. These will run at weekends over one or two days. They will be advertised as and when the dates are confirmed. We also want to provide outreach workshops for Schools and organisations please contact us for further information. Our regular 6-week courses are open level. Less experienced participants will be fully directed and supported throughout the course. Beginners will be taken step-by-step through a range of construction and decoration techniques through a series of projects. Those with more experience can be more self-directed and choose their own path of study...1-2-1 Throwing We are offering individual throwing tuition. This costs £60 for a 1-off, 2-hour session (including materials and firings) or £150 for a course of 3 sessions.
